Are these guys reading from a script?

"We believe high quality lenders like Option One are going to fare very well in this environment and come out the other end as a stronger business," Ernst said in the CNBC interview. He also contends the unit's business is strong due to steps taken a year ago (they saw where this was all going and became more "prudent" than others in their lending), and so Option One remains attractive to buyers.

So,

Everyone Else: Bad
Option One: Good

Where oh where have I seen this before ....

Oh, and they also increased the company's net loss in the fiscal third quarter by $15.5 million to $60.3 million -- that's a $15.5M increase over what they said on Feb 22 ... 20 days ago ... macaroons.

No, its still for sale. They're just trying to pretty it up a bit for the sale.

You can polish a turd, but it is still a turd.

Option One's Dwindling Options
PostPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2007 7:13 pm Reply with quoteBack to top

Interesting article on BusinessWeek.com today about Option One.

"Investment bankers familiar with the sale say big Wall Street players have taken a pass. Two weeks ago, top-tier private equity players started sniffing around, but the chances of a deal seem remote. "Nothing that has happened suggests it can sell Option One for anything approaching the $1.3 billion book value," says Gimme Credit analyst Kathleen Shanley.

H&R Block would not comment. But Ernst reiterated he would get top dollar for the mortgage unit on CNBC on Mar. 14. Wall Street remains doubtful: "He's out of touch with reality," says Ivan Feinseth of Matrix USA, a New York research shop. "

Goes on to talk about legal troubles and possible cease and desist orders.
