[quote="Dinochick"]I finally decided I want a change, a real change. I invite anyone who has made a successful career change and can offer advice to comment. Or like myself if anyone has a question that perhaps someone else on Implode can contribute an answer.
We need to pull our heads together and come up with solutions, as the job market has stalled again. We know we are valuable!!!
MULTI-LEVEL-MARKETING!! It's not flashy, but with the right company, you can make a good living. There are even companies that will pay you $4K in your first 30 days. |

Step one:
Pick up phone and call somebody
Step 2:
Ask them for thier business, a referral or a job
Step 3:
Repeat Step 1
Continue until you reach your goal or your phone no longer works, then go to:
Step One;
Walk in and introduce yourself and ask for the things in Step 2 above
Step 2:
Walk to the next door........ |

I spoke to a fellow mortgage comrade of mine from a few years back the other day. He said he is selling health and life insurance. I wouldn't have given it a second thought until he mentioned he gets all his business from company supplied internet leads, is on pace to do 100k his first year, and gets residual income. I'm thinking if you can do six figs your first year then with residuals a quarter mil isn't out of the question by year 2 or 3. Seems like a viable option for lo's who were previously reliant on internet leads/direct mail and never built realtor realtionships. I'm curious if anyone on here has tried this or knows anyone who has had success. I know the call center model isn't appealing to a lot of you, but I figured there must be a few other lead junkies out there! |

I know that every lying, lazy, uneducated, couldn't close a door mortgage person I 've ever known has quit the business to go sell life and health. Every single one. So, if you like ripping people off, especially elderly, then that job is for you. But, if you are good at doing mortgages, have the net worth, and have decent credit then hang in there. The dust will settle eventually. |

I have been in this business for 25 years and one fraudulant, lying unethical person has just put a fork in me. If you ever hear the name Jim Vanlaw run for the hills at the very least believe the exact opposite of anything that he says to you. Don't get me wrong have been in the business with a lot of less than honest people but never a snake of this calibur. He just moved down south from Connecticut used to be a VP at Citi. If I had to guess I would say he was asked to leave the Northeast for dishonest business practices. In my attempt to find a new career the only people who will even call me back are insurance companies. In fact I had an HR person in a very large company down hear tell me that they would not hire mortgage people because they were unethical and unreliable so what do you do with that? |
